The news to celebrate is that with February the days begin to lengthen quite noticeably giving us daylight until around nearly 5pm (!) and wee snowdrops bravely make their appearance in the gardens and parks reassuring us that spring with its colour and warmth is just around the corner.
Another sure sign that spring is coming is that tickets have gone on sale for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival to be held here in Moray over the 1-6th May (whoop). For those who know about it – get booking, for those who don’t, read on and then get booking!
Over five days across Moray, music, food and whisky events are being held to appeal to all the senses, and all taking part in some of the most beautiful scenery Scotland and the UK has to offer. To mark its 20th anniversary, the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival organisers have added an extra 100 events so that this year’s Festival hosts a staggering 665 events.
The festival begins and ends with a Scottish ceilidh which cannot fail to get your feet tapping with lots of great traditional music in between the entire five days. The games will feature all the traditional sports that in years gone by demonstrated clan strength such as hammer throwing, caber tossing, tug-o’-war and hill racing. Colourful pipebands will play throughout the day and amongst other events to entertain the whole family will be a demonstration of falconry and terrier racing.
