With around 52 distilleries in the local area, Moray has much to offer the whisky aficionado. Of course you will want to visit your favourite distillery but being in whisky country why not take the opportunity to try a whisky you may not find at home. Or let us take you to a smaller distillery trying experimental malts.
You are free to choose which distilleries you would like to visit but if you are stuck for suggestion we can recommend the Balvenie Distillery, for example, which produces a single malt with a huge local following and interesting editions, like their 14 Year Old matured in Caribbean Rum Casks giving you a fascinating end flavour. Or Glen Dronach; a distillery on the north-east threshold of Speyside and a malt renowned for its sublime sherry-cask finish. And Strathisla Distillery; the oldest operating distillery in the Highlands and absolutely beautiful to boot, not to mention that their 12 Year Old was the 2015 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival winner.
This intimate connoisseur tour leads you to the dark warehouses where twelve years is a short time and drams drawn straight from the cask let you really experience where the magic happens.
